 GoodPlanet GoodPlanet is a foundation that was created in 2005 to raise public awareness of environmental protection and to bring concrete solutions to the Earth’s ecological crisis. The foundation is chaired by Yann Arthus-Bertrand. Yann Arthus-Bertrand has flown over one hundred countries around the world. Extraordinary aerial views of nature and descriptive texts invite all of us to reflect upon the our planet’s evolution and its inhabitants’ future.
In just 50 years mankind has modified Planet Earth’s environment faster than in the whole history of humanity! As Earth’s ecosystem worsens, nature is expressing its violent anger: fresh water, oceans, forests, air, climate, arable land are all diminishing drastically.
We live a decisive moment - right now! A worldwide governmental policy must establish without delay norms which will make it possible “to meet present needs without compromising the needs of future generations”. We are personally responsible for the future of our Earth, and each of us has a role to play; we are all able – have the duty - to take action.

 South Asia Youth Environment Network (SAYEN – www.sayen.org) was set up in July 2002. Supported by the UNEP Regional Office, Asia and the Pacific; SAYEN is linked to TUNZA, UNEP’s strategy for engaging young people in environmental activities and in the work of UNEP. CEE hosts the Secretariat for SAYEN, which has membership from all the SAARC countries. A organization in each of the SAARC country has been identified as the National Focal Point (NFP) for the network. The number of SAYEN members in each country ranges from 20 to 100 with over 1500 youth organizations, individual, national and international agencies including Government in the region associated with SAYEN. NFPs facilitate SAYEN activities in their respective countries.

 The Foundation for the Promotion and Protection of the Environment and Cultural Heritage (ÇEKÜL) strives to foster and build a nation-wide awareness and social network for the preservation and protection of Turkey’s environmental resources and cultural heritage. Founded in 1990 by 25 professors and experts from various academic and cultural fields, ÇEKÜL has become one of the largest non-governmental organizations of Turkey with 100 representatives throughout the country along with nearly 650,000 participants involved in various projects and an advisory board of 700 specialists.
OUR PRINCIPLE
ÇEKÜL believes that nature and culture are fundamentally interrelated with all aspects of a human being’s existence and identity. Nature sets the conditions of all existence while shaping and being shaped by culture. It is significant to protect our environment and cultural heritage which enables us to connect our past to our future. The Mediterranean Scientific Association of Environmental Protection (MESAEP) was founded in October 1979 in Munich, Federal Republic of Germany as a non-profit scientific organization registered at the District Court in Munich.
The Association members, hailing from the Mediterranean and the other countries, are scientists engaged in research and development in the field of environmental technology and chemistry as well as ecotoxicology.
The objective of the MESAEP is
- to bring together its members and other interested persons from all scientific disciplines, of politics and economics to examine the current problems of environmental protection in the Mediterranean region. They shall investigate solutions to these problems on regional, national and international basis. For this purpose the MESAEP shall make a critical appraisal of the problems concerning the protection of man, animals and plants in the Mediterranean region from harmful effects of chemicals and physical agents, both natural and manmade.
- to give suggestions and recommendations concerning environmental quality and safety so as to enable the regulatory bodies of the various Mediterranean Countries to make proper decisions regarding the evaluation of safety of chemicals and physical agents.
The objective of the MESAEP is to provide a forum for interested persons from the field of the environmental sciences carrying out research related to chemical contamination and the other sources of pollution in the Mediterranean environment, and also those in economics and politics.
For this purpose, the Association shall consider all the problems concerning the protection of life in the region from harmful effects of chemical and physical agents, both natural and man-made.
The regulatory bodies in the Mediterranean regions will be encouraged and advised by the recommandation of MESAEP to make proper decisions for an improvement of the environmental quality and safety.
Among other activities, MESAEP has organized since 1981 together with national and international organizations symposia on "Environmental Pollution and its Impact on Life in the Mediterranean Region", in Athens / Greece (1981), Crete / Greece (1983), Istambul / Turkey (1985), Kavala / Greece (1987), Blanes / Spain (1989), Como / Italy (1991), Juan Les Pin-Antibes / France (1993), Rhodes / Greece (1995), S. Agnello di Sorrento / Italy (1997), Alicante / Spain (1999), Limassol / Cyprus (2001), Antalya / Turkey (2003), Thessaloniki / Greece (2005) and Sevilla / Spain (2007).
All scientific papers and other presentations during these meetings have been published in proceedings volumes (1981, 1983) and regular international scientific journals (Chemosphere, 1985; Toxicological and Environmental Chemistry, 1987 and 1989; Fresenius Environmental Bulletin, 1991, 1993, 1995, 1997, 1999, 2001, 2003, 1005 and 2007).
In the future, MESAEP will focus its activities on improvements of life-standards in the mediterranean region, and for this it will cooperate with all interested organizations and governmental bodies.

The association arose from contacts followed by the first founders with Janine Benyus and Dayna Baumeister and the motivated team which surrounds them.  ECCN is a network of Cities, Institutions, Centers of Research, Developers, Architects, and Engineers interested in developing the culture of the COMPACT CITY. The aim of ECCN is to spread the culture of ECCN and constantly update the state-of-the-art of the COMPACT CITY in order to offer the best solutions to the development of an urban environment in balance with the natural one.
The new ECCN is intended to be a Forum for Municipalities, Developers, Architects, Urbanists, Engineers, and all those who are interested in the designing and creation of true Eco-Compact Cities. The aim of the ECCN is to exchange ideas, share succesful experiences, and spread the culture of the Eco-Compact City all around the world. The structure of the ECCN is based upon the organization, every year, of:
- an international conference
- an international exhibition
- the publication of a ECCN Year-Book
- the update of the ECCN website
The conference is intended to let ECCN members present and discuss a series of case-studies. The exhibition displays the best examples of Compact Cities built and under construction, as well as the best projects of future Compact Cities. The publication covers the exhibition together with a selection of essays dedicated to the culture of the Compact City. Every year a city is selected as ECCN host-city. It organizes both the conference and the exhibition.
Every year one city will take the charge of the organization of the ECCN Forum, and in this occasion, other cities will advance their candidatures to host the next ECCN Forum. A specific ECCN website will be created to allow every member to publish his/her best experiences in the field of designing and building New Eco-Compact Cities. The first ECCN Forum will be held in Bologna in September 2009 thanks to the collaboration of the University of Ferrara-Civicarch Staff. We hope that you will join us in the new ECCN Forum and actively participate in the organization of the future ECCN events.

About Yunus Centre
Who are we?
 Since October 2006, when Professor Yunus and Grameen Bank jointly received the Nobel Peace Prize, local and international interest in Professor Yunus’ work has continuously increased. In order to address this ever-growing attention, an organization aimed primarily at promoting and disseminating Professor Yunus’ philosophy, with a special focus on social business, was created in the form of the Yunus Secretariat. In July 2008, the Yunus Secretariat was renamed the Yunus Centre. The Yunus Centre has since been the one-stop resource centre for all Grameen social business related activities both globally and in Bangladesh. It keeps the spirit of the global social business move
ment very high through various events, social media, publications, and websites. The Yunus Centre also helps forge lasting, productive relationships among all social business institutions around the world. The Centre is chaired by Professor Muhammad Yunus, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, and its Executive Director is Ms. Lamiya Morshed.

 Global Diversity Foundation (GDF) is a family of organizations and regional initiatives that promote agricultural, biological and cultural diversity around the world through research, training and social action. It comprises the Global Diversity Foundation, registered as a non-profit in the United States and as a charitable organization in the UK, as well as programs in Mesoamerica, North Africa, Southeast Asia and Southern Africa.
A cross-cutting International Program focuses on disseminating results and providing courses, seminars and workshops on contemporary issues in biocultural diversity and research methods in ethnoecology. Held in diverse countries including Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Mexico, Morocco, Peru, South Africa and Thailand, these training opportunities are designed for community members, university students and postdoctoral colleagues. KuzeyDoga Society was established on January 28, 2008 in the province of Kars in northeastern Turkey. We are mainly interested in birds and their habitats, doing scientific research, organizing environmental education programs for kids and youth, raising awareness among local people about nature, providing training and capacity development opportunities for youth, promoting nature friendly tourism activities and cooperating with local, national and international organizations for the nature protection of Kars, Igdir, Ardahan, Artvin and Agri provinces in north-eastern Turkey.

President
Born in 1975 in Istanbul, Turkey. He studied biology and antropology at Harvard University and is currently a senior scientist at Stanford University Center for Conservation Biology, specializing in community-based conservation, ecology, ornithology, and tropical biology. His doctoral research focused on the causes and consequences of bird extinctions around the world. He has conducted ornithological fieldwork in Alaska, Angola, Colorado, Costa Rica, Ethiopia, Turkey and Uganda to investigate the ecological factors behind the extinction-proneness of certain groups, such as tropical understory insectivores. He has an extensive ongoing bird ringing and radio tracking study in Costa Rica to understand the factors behind the disappearance and survival of tropical forest bird species in human-dominated landscapes. He has compiled and continues to analyze a database of all the world's bird species to understand the distributions and determinants of avian life history traits and extinction correlates, and to assess the implications of avian extinctions on bird-mediated ecosystem processes and services, such as pollination, seed dispersal, and control of insect outbreaks. İn addition to his empirical research, he is currently conducting community-based conservation projects in Ethiopia and Turkey. His objectives are to integrate conservation education, research, capacity building and income generation, to increase the contribution of ecotourism, especially birdwatching, to community-based conservation in the developing world, and to improve the role of the private sector in the conservation of biodiversity. His ultimate goal is to prevent extinctions and consequent collapses of critical ecosystem processes while making sure that human communities benefit from conservation as much as the wildlife they help conserve.
