CoursesTraining Courses and Qualifications

The European Energy Centre (EEC) has been running training courses since 1975 and has a wealth of experience in education for the renewable energy and energy efficiency sectors.

The professional renewable energy and energy efficiency training courses are organised in collaboration with leading European and International Universities.

Participants benefit from the practical and theoretical knowledge of a range of renewable energy and energy efficiency systems, taught by University professors and leading experts in their field with more than 30 years of theoretical and practical experience.

The EEC Accredited Centre is an Independent Professional Body and trains around 5000 individuals a year in over 300 training courses at 21 universities across Europe.

GMCGalileo Master Certificate (GMC)

The internationally recognised Galileo Master Certificate (GMC) is awarded to successful course participants, as important evidence of the theoretical and practical skills required of professionals and quality technicians in the industry. It provides a clear gateway to a career in the renewable energy sector.

The teaching, which leads to the GMC, is based on the European Project EMTEU (Energy Management Technician in Europe).

Previous participants of our courses include representatives from Mitsubishi, Siemens, British Army, Solar Power Scotland, Nestle, Coca Cola, and NATO amongst others.

The list of some of the participants who have been awarded the GMC can be viewed here https://www.euenergycentre.org/clients-partners

ConferencesInternational Conferences and Summits

The European Energy Centre organises leading Conferences, Summits and Round Tables, with the support of European Governments and in partnership with the United Nations (UNEP) and the intergovernmental IIR, on the latest technologies in renewable energy and energy efficiency across Europe and internationally.

Participants of the Summits include leading researchers, authorities from universities, Members of the European Parliament, European Commission, Greenpeace, Presidents of leading organisations and intergovernmental Institutes such as the IIR, the American ASHRAE, AHARI, the Chinese CAR, the European Partnership for Energy and the Environment and AREA which represents 130,000 professionals working in the sector.

We bring together leading experts and researchers to share knowledge and ideas over a stimulating programme of events and activities.

Global Climate Change Initiative

We are excited to release our
USAID Climate Action Review: 2010–2016.

USAID’s mission is to end poverty and advance human prosperity and security. Our climate work safeguards this mission and puts countries on a path to pursue clean energy growth and resilient, low-carbon development.

Countries around the world are feeling the effects of climate change, from more intense heat waves, droughts, floods and storms to slower-moving changes like ocean acidification.

USAID is sharing world-class climate knowledge, data and tools to ensure countries can predict, prepare for and adapt to change. USAID also helps countries lay the foundations for sustainable growth powered by clean energy and healthy landscapes.

Our Climate Action Plan

President Obama’s Climate Action Plan is preparing America to address climate change and mobilizing all countries to act together to ensure a clean, stable environment for future generations.

USAID’s Global Climate Change and Development Strategy sets out principles, priorities and objectives for USAID's climate work through 2016.

Our Climate Programs

USAID plays a key role in global climate action. Reaching about 50 countries with climate and clean energy knowledge, data and tools, USAID helps ensure all countries have the support they need to act on climate.

  • Low Emission Development support reaches 26 countries, from Colombia to Philippines, all taking concrete steps to pursue low-carbon growth.
  • Adaptation support reaches more than 30 countries, from Bangladesh to Zambia.
  • Clean Energy support reaches more than a dozen countries, from India to South Africa.
  • Sustainable Landscapes support reaches more than a dozen countries from Colombia to Indonesia.
  • Climate Integration support reaches across USAID to ensure food security, infrastructure, disaster preparedness and other programs can access climate knowledge, data, tools and good practice.

The Office of Global Change (OES/EGC) works on a broad range of international climate change issues, under the guidance of the Special Envoy for Climate Change. The United States is taking a leading role by advancing an ever-expanding suite of measures at home and abroad. The President’s Climate Action Plan highlights unprecedented efforts by the United States to reduce carbon pollution, promote clean sources of energy that create jobs, protect communities from the impacts of climate change, and work with partners to lead international climate change efforts. The working partnerships the United States has created or strengthened with other major economies has reinforced the importance of results-driven action both internationally and domestically and are achieving measurable impacts now to help countries reduce their long-term greenhouse gas emissions.

The Islamic Foundation for Ecology and Environmental Sciences (IFEES)

Ifees logo

The Islamic Foundation for Ecology and Environmental Sciences (IFEES) is a multi-dimensional organisation. From tentative beginnings in the mid 1980’s we have earned an international reputation as leaders in developing a specifically Islamic approach to environmental protection and natural resource management.

That is, to develop ecological knowledge and promote conservation and sustainable development based on environmental ethics contained in Islamic teachings. Because of the undeveloped nature of this specialism we have engaged in all facets of this work from theory to practice which could be broadly described as educational. The work evolved as we responded to the demands made on us by students at one level, and international agencies such as the World Wide Fund for Nature at another. This process helped us to build our own knowledge base and over the course of time we were able to identify the following streams of work that now keeps us occupied –

  1. The development of a knowledge base and sharing this knowledge by producing educational material.
  2. The development of training programmes based on this knowledge.
  3. Developing projects on the ground based on this knowledge.
  4. The development of networks dedicated to this work.
  5. Sharing this knowledge in seminars, conferences and other public fora.
  6. The dissemination of this work through the use of media, information technology and other available channels.

HISTORY OF "ECOLOGY ACTION"

ECOLOGY ACTION

HISTORY OF "ECOLOGY ACTION"

In 1966 Alan Chadwick, English gardening master, brought his synthesis of the biodynamic/French intensive method to the US and converted a barren slope at the University of California-Santa Cruz into a flourishing garden. In 1971 the city of Palo Alto, California invited Stephen Kafka, Senior Apprentice at the University’s student garden, to give a four-hour class on the method. Ecology Action had been started that year and had developed a recycling program that was so successful it had been taken over by the city.

Members of Ecology Action were excited about the class and wanted to make the information more readily available to the public. In January 1972 the Board of Directors approved a Biointensive research and education project whose purposes would be to teach regular classes, collect data, make land available for gardening and publish information on the method’s techniques. John Jeavons became the project’s director. The Common Ground Organic Garden Supply and Education Center in Palo Alto was also started at this time as part of the Ecology Action organization.

After a five-month search for land, the Syntex Corporation offered three and three-quarters acres of their grounds in the Stanford Industrial Park, with all the necessary water. A half acre was kept for the research garden and the rest became a community garden. Alan Chadwick visited the garden site and gave us basic advice on how to proceed. We then attended a series of lectures he gave nearby. In the spring we started teaching our own classes, based on Chadwick’s classes and Stephen Kafka’s.

No Impact Project

E-mail Print PDF

About Us

The No Impact Project is an international, environmental, nonprofit project, founded  in the spring of 2009. It was inspired by the No Impact Man book, film, and blog.

Mission

To empower citizens to make choices which better their lives and lower their environmental impact through lifestyle change, community action, and participation in environmental politics.

The No Impact Project was conceived by Colin Beavan, aka No Impact Man, following the success of his blog, book, and film, which chronicle his family’s year-long experiment living a zero-waste lifestyle in New York City. Central to his thesis is the notion that deep-seated individual behavior change leads to both cultural change and political engagement. Living low-impact provides a clear entry point into the environmental movement. This thesis is the bedrock of the No Impact Project.

Goals

  • Promote behavioral change
  • Enable the public to experience their own No Impact Experiment
  • Engage people who are not already tree-hugging, bicycle-riding, canvas-bag-toting, eco-warriors
