- Some of the Best Short Ecovillage Videos on You Tube
- Intentional Community Ecovillages:
- “Introduction to Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage” An excellent short video that shows what an ecovillage does, and more importantly, why. Dancing Rabbit co-founder Tony Sirna describes the community’s mission, values, and practices while you see people building natural buildings, meeting, cooking, and eating; and Dancing Rabbit’s passive solar buildings, off-grid power, car co-op, garden, and more. If your friends don’t know why you’re interested in ecovillages, show them this!
- “The Village: Cloughjordan, Ireland” Founders of this still-forming ecovillage project in the middle of a small traditional village in Killarney, Ireland, describe what they hope to do in their project and why.
- Traditional Indigenous Villages:
- “Senegal Ecovillage Microfinance Fund” Wonderful 9-minute video with Senegalese music showing how micro-loans have helped villagers in Senegal create incomes from small, cooperatively owned businesses. Very inspiring!
- Sustainability Education and Training Centers:
- “Tour of Ecovillage Training Center at The Farm” Ecovillage Training Center Director Albert Bates describes ecologically sustainable features at this educational center at The Farm community in Tennessee: permaculture design, natural buildings, off-grid power, appropriate technology, and more.
- “Ecocentro IPEC - Reportagem Globo Repórter (Maio-2007)” Short feature story on Brazilian TV about Ecocentro IPEC (Instituto Permacultura y Ecovila do Cerrado), showing various features of IPEC from earth-bag construction to its beautiful and unusual buildings to roof-water catchment and more. In Portuguese, however this video is so visually obvious and well-crafted that it’s easy to appreciate what you’re seeing if you don’t understand the language.
